Not Sujoy Ghosh but Pathan director Siddharth Anand to helm Shah Rukh Khan-Suhana Khan starrer King- Deets inside

For those who may not know, Siddharth Anand directed Shah Rukh Khan in the 2023 smash hit, Pathaan. Since the announcement of King, anticipation has been building. The film, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Suhana Khan, has received a significant update. Initially, it was reported that King would be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, known for his work on Kahaani. However, a recent report reveals that Siddharth Anand will take the helm of the project.

According to the report, Sujoy Ghosh has contributed to the script of King with Siddharth Anand starring Shah Rukh Khan. But it will be Anand directing the film. Preparations for the movie have been ongoing for the past six months. With plans to begin filming in March 2025, aiming for a global release in 2026. The production is expected to follow a “6 to 7-month schedule.” The screenplay has been crafted by Sujoy Ghosh in collaboration with Siddharth Anand, Suresh Nair, and Sagar Pandya.

A source quoted by Pinkvilla stated, “Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand are one of the biggest combinations in Hindi cinema, and they are set for a reunion with King. The prep work for this action-packed entertainer has been in progress for six months, with Anand and his team conducting extensive location scouting worldwide and designing groundbreaking action sequences with renowned international stunt directors. King is set to start filming in March 2025… The film is penned by Sujoy Ghosh along with Siddharth Anand, Suresh Nair, and Sagar Pandya.”

The source further mentioned that both Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand are thrilled with the development of the script and are eager to begin production in March 2025. They have committed to a global shooting schedule, ensuring the film will hit the big screen in 2026, aiming for a scale comparable to that of Pathaan.

Additionally, discussions are reportedly underway to cast an A-list actress alongside Shah Rukh Khan, with an announcement expected soon. Abbas Tyrewala is on board as the dialogue writer for King, which will also feature Abhishek Bachchan along with Shah Rukh and Suhana Khan. The film is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment in collaboration with Marflix.
